Adolph Arnold Pancratz III, was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Volusia County, Florida, and died May 22, 2022 in Bruceton. Twice married, he survived his first wife, Ester Bush. Together, they issued one daughter, Mariah, who tragically died at age 9. His second wife, Mary Beth Alleman, has survived him in Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters, Monica Elling (Michael) of Sharon, Tracee Hart of New Mexico and Isabel Bostic of California; brothers, Pascal Pancratz (Pam) of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Chris Pancratz (Jeri) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Frank (Nancy) of Memphis. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and 17 grand-nieces and nephews. Adolph was a submariner during the time of the Cold War with the Soviet Union. He served while assigned to the USS Parche (SSN-683) a Sturgeon Class nuclear-powered attack submarine that had a long hull specially modified for espionage duty. That meant that because the vessel was used behind Soviet waters, he could not discuss any of the missions. The Parche was launched in 1973 under President Richard Nixon and served until 2004. We do know that while onboard, Adolph earned a Presidential Unit Citation, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Expeditionary Medal with One Star, the Battle Efficiency Ribbon with Two Stars, the Navy Unit Commendation, and the Good Conduct Medal with One Star. At the time Adolph was released from the Navy after serving nearly 10 years, he was assigned as an instructor training sailors aboard the USS Jacksonville (SSN-699) as an E-6. His civilian career was spent working for the General Electric Company at their pioneering plant near Columbus, Ohio, developing diamond abrasive techniques. Paris Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 3532 US Hwy. 79 South, Paris.
