Hailey Bieber’s Chocolate Glazed Donut Nails Are Fall's It-Mani

After launching the viral nail trend of the summer, Hailey Bieber is at it again. Perhaps taking inspiration from husband Justin’s Timbiebs, the model is serving up a new seasonal flavour of her much-buzzed-about glazed donut nails. In a recent TikTok, Bieber showed off a scintillating mocha mani, declaring, “The chocolate glazed donut nails are really hitting for me for fall.” (We’re seeing a real missed opportunity for a Mr. and Mrs. Bieber Tim Hortons collab.)

If you missed it the first time around, Bieber’s glazed donut nails consisted of a milky base topped with an opalescent shimmer powder. The resulting sheen rivalled that of her ever glowing cheekbones, while the name nodded to Bieber’s glazed donut skin aesthetic, the inspiration for her skincare line, Rhode, which includes a “Glazing Fluid,” a.k.a. a plumping gel serum.

The chocolate version replicates the glimmering finish of the original but swaps the sheer white polish for a warm, perfectly autumnal shade of milk chocolate. Brown is a huge colour this fall, both in clothing and in beauty, appearing on eyelids and nails on several runways. A hint of sparkle adds visual interest to the hue while tempering its vampy tendencies. It’s no wonder Bieber can’t get enough.

If you’ve got an at-home nail lamp, you can get the look by curing a light brown gel polish and then rubbing a shimmering nail powder over it before setting it with a gel top coat.

If you want to go the regular polish route, you could try a shimmering top coat like Sally Hansen’s new Miracle Gel Topcoat Activator in Unicorn (you don’t need a gel lamp to cure it). It gives any polish a pearlescent finish while still letting the base colour show through.

Some online DIY-ers have even tried rubbing iridescent eyeshadow over their dry nail polish with one of those small foam shadow applicators and sealing it with a clear top coat. Honestly, if you’re feeling crafty or bored on a weeknight, the results are pretty impressive. Regardless of whether you opt for shadow or a holographic top coat, you’ll need a great colour to use as your base. Take Bieber’s cue and reach for a lighter, creamier shade of brown. OPI’s Cliffside Karaoke, a glossy mid-tone chocolate, is a fabulous choice.

Lastly, if you’re all about efficiency, a brown polish sprinkled with light-reflecting particles makes for a one and done mani. We scoured the beauty aisles and found two solid dupes. The first is OPI’s Fall-Ing for Milan, a cappuccino hue laced with flecks of bronze. It’s a wee bit lighter but nonetheless stunning. Think of it as a beautiful, non-boring neutral.

Our second pick is Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength Nail Colour in Antique Bronze, which, on top of being rich and gorgeous, has the bonus benefit of helping to fortify nails. It’s a little more on the copper side, but definitely captures the spirit of the trend.

There you have it. All bets are open now for Bieber’s next glazed donut nail flavour. Festive frosted cranberry for the holidays, perhaps?
