Granite City man faces felony DUI charge

Alton and Wood River police are now part of a new Southern Illinois FBI task force.

EDWARDSVILLE – A Granite City man faces felony DUI and drug possession charges after an incident Oct. 1.

Delane A. Mosley, 51, of Granite City, was charged Oct. 4 with aggravated driving under the influence, a Class 2 felony; unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Granite City Police department.

According to court documents, on Oct. 1 Mosley allegedly was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camero while under the influence “of any intoxicating compound or combination of intoxicating compounds,” and was found to be in possess of less than five grams of methamphetamine and less than 15 grams of cocaine.

Other felony charges filed Oct. 4 by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office include:

• Elizabeth H. Diamond, 53, and James D. Whitis, 51, both listed as homeless out of Granite City, were each charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Whitis was charged with a Class 1 felony, while Diamond was charged with a Class 3 felony. The cases were presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on Oct. 3 Whitis allegedly had more than 15 grams of methamphetamine and Diamond had less than five grams. Bail was set at $25,000 for Whitis and $20,000 for Diamond.

• Shane M. Mueller, 32, of Worden, was charged with criminal damage to property over $500, a Class 4 felony; and harassment through electronic communications, a Class B misdemeanor. The case was presented by the Edwardsville Police Department. According to court documents, on Oct. 2 Mueller allegedly damaged four tires on a 2012 GMC Terrain and, through electronic communication, threatened to shoot the victim and sent them photographs of an assault rifle. Bail was set at $25,000.

• James E. Lewis Jr., 30, of Granite City, was charged with criminal trespass to a residence, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police department. According to court documents, on Sept. 18 Lewis allegedly entered a home in Granite City without permission, knowing the resident was present. Bail was set at $40,000.
