If you drive on Highway 57 between Saukville and Fredonia, prepare to take a detour in the coming weeks.

Payne and Dolan Inc. will diamond grind the pavement and make other repairs beginning Monday, June 6.

Weather permitting, the $1.5 million project is expected to be completed on July 18.

During that time, southbound traffic will be detoured onto Highway W and then Highway 33 to the I-43 southbound on-ramp in Saukville.

Northbound traffic will follow Highway 33 to Highway W, then head north to Highway 57.

The work is considered a “roadway preservation project” by the Department of Transportation.

In addition to diamond grinding, the two-mile project entails base patching, shoulder improvements, replacement of the beam guards and repairs to the median crossovers.
